Not driven the car for a while as iv been playing around with the dash, trying to find why my gauges are erratic. Took it out last nite and after the inital warm up period my fans stay constantly on, the temp gauge fluctuates from 85 - 100 when you accelerate hard and when stationary sits at about 95, reading through the bible and posts on here im starting to get a bit worried about this as its a bit to close to hg failure for comfort!
Should the fans be staying on constantly as it wasnt overly warm last nite?
Iv checked the water level and this doesnt seem to be down from normal.
Any suggestions??

Can't tell you whats going on but the fans should not be on all the time. Mine come on when sat in traffic and sometimes at low speeds but not all the time. The running temp on mine is normally between 70 to 80. It does seem strange your getting a high reading and your fans are coming on might be time to take it to a garage

Are the fans on when you start the car - or just when it reaches a certain temp.

Mine did the same one night, came on and stayed on even though the engine was off. I had to unplug the fuse and leave it over night, the next day it was fine and has been ever since!?!?

Seems i was running a bit to hot!! I bled the system yesterday and topped it up and the temp seems to have come down a bit and the fans go off and on when it needs to
Just out of interest what temperature does the standard thermostat open at and otter switch turn the fans on? The stat on mine opens at 85c and the fan turns on at exactly the same time?!

Something i did find which was interesting....i left the Chimp ideling on the drive and watched the temperature rise past the red on the gauge but i also had an electronic thermometer in the swirl pot which was showing 78c!!
Think my gauge/sender units might be a bit out!!
