There's a guy on ebay who imports and sells camera gears. He's based in Scotland and there'll be no VAT. It's worth contacting him to check out what he's got.

kerso1123@msn.com

P.S. You don't have to buy via ebay, and it can be cheaper if you don't.

If you do a search for west base in london, they are a camera shop, and have been advertising the non IS version of the 70-200 for £999, not sure if they still have any, but woth a try, they advertise in the camera mags, particularly PP and DP(the ones i get).

Failing that, the F4 version is a VERY good lens, not quite as fast, but still very nice, and at £500, a lot lighter on the pocket.

Nice lens, although have you thought about the 24-105, has IS to overcome the F4 not F2.8 aperture. both very good lenses i hear, both L series glass and very clear.

I have just tried a 17-40 for a few hours, and that is now top of my wish list, a LONG wish list at that, 30D being the latest item off the list and into my got list.

Thought about that lens.. but the 2.8 helps the focus on the 20/30D's. the IS is nice.. but won't slow people down.. 2.8 will give me a faster SS. IS is cool for studio or landscape I suppose though.. sigh... can't have everythin ;-) lol..
