why doesn't anyone else??!!
As a cager who doesn't mind bikes passing him I always move over and, round London it's more common to not get a thanks. I appreciate it when it does happen though.
Do you actually thank every car that leaves you enough room to pass or only those that make it very obvious they're leaving you room?
I'd guess it'd be very tiresome to thank every car you pass round there!

Eh?

Whilst on my daily commute, I always acknowledge every car that deliberately moves out of the way for me.

I always acknowlege, it takes very little to raise the fingers on your hand whilst keeping hold of the bars.

Exactly!
Glad you approve! Planning on going out later and will always say thanks, i am a car driver and have been for longer than a bike rider, just a little bit of common courtesy

im the same if i see them move over i always raise my hand and when im in the car and move over for bikes plenty of bikers do the same thing to me, however if im not filtering and travelling at quite a speed and a car gets out of the way on a dual carrigeway for example i wouldnt acknowledge this as i think focousing on controling the bike is more important.
If you moved over to the right then they would have to acknowledge using their right hand or right foot. Waving your leg around is apparently perceived by the majority of road users to be an aggressive gesture, and maybe I am weird, but when I try to raise the fingers on my right hand as a mini wave, I end up moving my whole arm and backing off the throttle suddenly, which isn't great while in reasonably close proximity to other vehicles. Still trying to perfect that technique - although I do wonder whether most would spot the gesture, and I sometimes wave the leg - quite often the people who do move over are bikers and will hopefully recognise it as being friendly!

I tend just to nod my head, but sideways towards the vehicle...It's not hard and is just common courtesy...That's all!!
