Illusive alarm adjustment.
Discussion
Hoping someone here may be able to help.
My alarm is way too sensitive. It is guaranteed to go off in the middle of the night and then keep going off. Because of this, I have taken to not setting the alarm and therefore, not locking it. This is obviously not an ideal situation especially for insurance purposes.
I have the bible and have done numerous searches on this forum and found the most common places for the alarm adjustment are the transmition tunnel and behind the dashboard. I have had both of these off today and the only thing I could find was the Meta immobilizer control behind the dashboard. This was a sealed unit with no adjustment.
Does anyone know of another place on the car for this adjustment screw?

the adjustment is on the micro wave box in the centre console,if you look at the box you will find a small hole with a white screw head inside.on the outside of the hole you will see a minus sign and a plus sign joined by a semi circle with arrow heads turn in the direction of the minus to decrease sensitivity
On my 2000 chim the box is beneath the centre console in front of the small recessed tray.
The screws are under the removable cover in the tray and either side of the console at the front.
The console can be lifted enough to get the box out for adjustment. You do need a very smal screwdriver.
I found it easy to take the cover off the box (it just prises off) so I could see how much I had moved the adjustment. This is a small potentiometer and is very delicate but easy to work with.
