PCs: Partition problems

I've got an old desktop that I use as an extra browser and it's got a large secondary hard drive in it which I use to back up to.

I buggered about with things and have now Windows 95 doesn't see the extra partitions on it. It sees the first, but I used to have another 5 partitions of 2GB which Windows now doesn't see.

Can anyone help me out?

Had a similar problem with my laptop where the IT muppets made the primary partition too small. The easiest solution was to stick Partition Magic on it which lets you fiddle about with it all without needing to FDisk and re-install.

I know Win 95 doesn't support "large" partitions (over 2Gb?) but I'm sure it will happily "see" multiple partitions.

Try running Fdisk from the DOS mode startup, and see what is listed. It may be that the other partitions are not set up as DOS / FAT / FAT32 or whatever Windows needs them to be. Not sure if you can change this without losing data, but it may be OK.

For W95 to address 2+Gb you need the OSR2 release.

Yep, familiar with that. I did have 5 2GB partitions. I think I'm busy cocking it up big style now

Maxtor offers one, which fits on a floppy disk.
