Fluorescent Vests in France

Without wanting to sound like a complete moron...my mate has just told me that if you stop on the hard shoulder on the motorway or if you get stopped by Le BiB on the motorway in France you need to wear a Fluorescent Vest.

Question is...is he taking the pi55?

I'm not sure if its law in France yet I know it has been in Spain for a couple of years. I've got mine in the car because after all it is a good idea.

Yep it's true, if you have an accident or breakdown or are stopped for some reason, then everyone in the car needs a day glo vest.

You can pick them up in supermarkets and services for peanuts.

It is not the law yet, but most motoring organisations recommend that you comply because many parts of Europe are going this way...

...similar to the warning triangle, which is not law IF YOU HAVE HAZARD LIGHTS, otherwise you MUST carry the triangle. Again most motoring organisations recommend that you have both.

I bought one from Halfwits . don't cost much and save the french cops fining you more than the cost of the top. That is if they pull you over

It is law in France now. My wifes parents live there and they said the law changed last year.

I ain`t taking one, and most Pistonheads won`t......thanks for the advice..but I,ll take my chances without one.If I happen to breakdown I,ll remove the top radiator hose, let the green antifreeze flow onto a white tee shirt and Bingo....one fluorescent looking jacket!..
