Oil pressure

What causes a loss of oil pressure, when i bought the car it used to sit at 50 but is now at 30 and when the revs drop it goes down even lower
is there any common problems or do i just take it to the garage?? Could it b covered under warrenty??

Most likely it's the oil pressure relief spring. Get it to a specialist and sort it, it shouldn't cost you much.

I assume that you have checked the oil level? If so, then a common fault is the pressure relief spring breaking or weakening. It's an easy fix. frankly if you've recently bought the car, pretty much any issue ought to be sorted under warranty.

Have you checked the oil? I know it sounds obvious but these cars can go through a litre every 1k miles so you need to be checking every week at least .

yip checked the oil, do it every second or third time iam out in the car, its sitting slightly over the max on the dipstick so i might take some out

I'm with the spring theory, or the valve it sits in is gunked up.

I have mine replaced every service.

How long have you owned the car?

Have you been topping up the oil at all? If so have you been topping it up with the same type as what was already in the car, e.g. you haven't added a mineral oil when it has synthetic in as this will not mix properly causing the oil to break down, seperate and become congeeled?

It does sounfd more likely to be the oil pressure relief spring that may need replacing, if you do a search on here you may even find a thread that tells you the exact location of the spring, you can then order a spring (only cost a few pounds) from a TVR Indie and may be able to fit it yourself, if not any decent local garage should be able to do this for you in no time at all.

If your oil level is only just above the upper limit (1-5mm) then it is not worth draining any off and it will not cause you any problems. Best tip for checking your oil is to have your car on a flat surface, remove the oil dipstick, leave it out overnight, then next day insert the dipstick, remove and check.
