Purchasing an Ultima

Hello everyone, I am thinking about purchasing few stages of the Ultima GTR. Probably the first 6 stages. But then I thought about the price of the completed car. Made some comparison to similar production Sports/Super cars, and now I'm thinking twice. First being, I don't have wait that long when purchasing a production car rather than building it. Then I thought about, cars similar price to the Ultima GTR that I want to build may not perform at the same level.

Here are some cars that comes to mind.

2006 Dodge Viper Coupe
1997 Dodge Viper (modified by Hennessey, producing over 850hp)
2006 Lotus Exige S
1989 Lamborghini Countache
1998 Ferrari 355
1991 Ferrari 348
2006 Porsche Cayman S
1996 Porsche TT

What do you all think? I've been discussing the GTR with few owners. My targeted weight seems to unrealistic with a budget of 125k USD. So, I'm targetting the cars weight to 900Kg wet/1 person. After some calculations and lightweight parts, it should be doable. But then putting my GTR on the road will be much longer.

One of my main goal is to have a lightweight engine with 850hp and similar lb feet of torque, somewhere in the region of 700lb+. The tranny is also important. I would like a tranny strong and lightweight which probably doesn't exist or way out of my budget. I'm thinking about Falconer's IRL street engine with a 1 or 2 superchargers. Their base engine with supercharger producing 560hp is 45k USD.

All of the alternatives you mention have their pros and cons,as does the Ultima,but I think you maybe viewing the Ultima build from a false perspective.You say your aim is to build an Ultima with a max. weight of 900kg's wet.This will be difficult but possible.You also say you want 850bhp,why? Have you ever driven a car that weighed less than a ton with this amount of power? You will not only have trouble keeping a transmission in one piece,but getting the power down will be very difficult.To me,the main reason to build an Ultima is to put your own stamp on the project thus making it unique and very much a personal event.Whatever your choice,good luck.
