Rear Adjustable AVO's

Just got my new AVO's for the rear of my 400se, trouble is im not 100% sure that they are correct. They have a coil over mounting on the top, which is removable, and a spring seat cup for the original diameter springs but is ditching the top mount ok? seems like an expensive piece of machining to throw away. Has anybody else with adjustable AVO's got this exact type part no: PH749

Fitted the same ones to my old 350 still got the coil over top mounts in the garage, but I know what you mean. you keep looking at em and thinking I am sure they should fit somewhere, but thet dont.

Cheers badredwedge, Like you said they look like they fit without the top mount but I just wanted to make sure! Should get a refund for sending the top mounts back though!

Andy use plenty copper slip on the stupid grub screew or better still replace them with a proper bolt or thingy

They look pretty muck like the 3 year old AVO's I took off mine..

And plenty of grease around the adjuster knobs. Mine seized tight after only 3 months!

Rev, how come you took them off after 3 years? Looks like they won't last as long as the original Koni's, 18 years!

So what is the best set up for the rear, as this winters project is to replace all suspension bushes with poly ( I think someone does a complete set for the Wedge ?) rear shocks and springs and replace uj's in drive shafts.

Hopefully once I've done this lot I can then stick some 245 rubber on the rear and leave larger rubber strips down the road

They might have improved them in the 3 year's since I bought these but the adjusters break (jam .. what ever) - so I have one hard and one set on soft.. not good after only 3 years.. they dont look all that great either.

Car is garaged and does around 5K per year.

They are re-buildable - so if any one what's them - give me a few quid at the BBWF and they are yours - wire brush, bit of paint and rebuilt at £15 per side and they will be fine again.

I spray my new shocks with proctecting spray now :

Ah, I see what you mean Not good for 3 years at all, I must admit I took the spring seats to the powder coaters along with my A frames etc because the paint finish was crap,already chipping off not good for brand new. The shocks do look better finished though, I guess only time will tell.

could be interested in those as I'm going to need some for the winter, will match the front then A good clean up and rebuild should see them ok. I noticed the newer avo's are now black and not red, as they sent me a different one when I had the front ones rebuilt
