Hi guys ! Just bought a TVR Chimaera 430 (1994) with 18,000 miles on the clock. Real good example which is good as it's my first Chimp ! Only one problem so far (yes I know ... welcome to tvr ownership) it keeps cutting out (most times) when I either stop or take her out of gear, any ideas ???
Thanks in advance

Hi Thomo welcome to the club.....
I had a similar problem and started checking my sensors....I found that one of my lambda sensors was totally corroded. Once replaced the problem immediaely went away. Although I have read other posts of similar problems and different outcomes.
Hope this helps, and I am sure others will be along with similar stories and outcomes...

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Not technical minded at all when it comes to cars but will give anything a go.
Cheers guys !
Welcome aboard !
Firstly, low mileage.... is the battery fully charged / in good condition, I would stick a battery charger on it to be sure before I checked / cleaned much else. The sensors use voltage as a signal so if the battery is low they can get confused.
With a fully charged battery and a fresh tank of optimax, I would give it a good run, working it, without thrashing it.
Was it a private sale ? Was the car in use at time of sale, ie taxed etc
Look behind the panel in the back of the passenger footwell, the battery will be in there,
Hi GasMonkey,
I bought it from a garage and it was only in there for a couple of days. As far as I know the car was in full use before that. I will defo check out the battery first, had a 2003 Lotus Elise which started to "hunt" for revs just before the battery packed in but she never cut out on me though !
Cheers for the advise !

Have a mooch around the forum, there is plenty of advise about and the fixes people have tried.

i would get the idle control valve cleaned first
this is a really likely cause on such a low miler, there are details / photos if you search, quite easy to do yourself if you're confident ! Edited by GasMonkey on Saturday 3rd June 23:21
my dads car does this often he usualy cleans the sparkplugs and the stepper motor about every month and another easy way to do it is to take the car out for a quick blat that helps two,no really,no joke it does and it is also a good reason to get out of the house as my dad usually does
