I want to get some shots of the inside of me' new house. My Nikkor lenses only go down to 17mm.

Anyone know if this lens any good? I don't need it to be mind blowing, but I guess it'd be good for some v.wide landscapes too (if it's any good).

I've got it, and like it a lot. Apparently some of them suffer from being a bit soft on the right hand side of the image but I can't say mine is.

This guy

http://thedailyexposure.blogspot.com

uses a 10-something Sigma on a D70 to good effect.

I don't recall which one it is. He did mention in a post somewhere back end of last year (iirc) but I don't have time to search for it just now.

Now you see.. that's a good plan.

But with two caviats.

1/ It's £700 more

2/ I've spent all my money on fast cars and slow houses.

Still a good plan mind. Any lifts near you need some crap musac?

Steve,

The first proper use mine had was in the Lakes last week and it took a little while to get used to just how wide it was!! I'm well chuffed with the results (although they are still covered in sensor dust at the mo!) and would thoroughly recommend it.

Only problem I found was that that the Cokin P series filter holder came into view at <12mm - not sure how you'd get on with your Lee stuff?

Do you really need to go to 10mm and take the distortion?

iirc you have a Canon S80 as well. There is an adaptor for that which takes it close to 20mm. Would that suffice?

Ok, I know the real answer is that you want to get a 'proper' lens but think of your accountant and his blood pressure ...

Thanks for the tips guys: Nikkor 14 will have to wait... Sigma it is. Just ordered from the Warehouse.

I appreciate the distortion issues, but as seen above (thanks RD) the effect can become 'part of the composition'.

Whats that clever thing one can do in Photoshop to correct distortion? I need to read up about it... even my 17 needs tweaking:

I'm interested in getting this lens too so let me know how you get on. If anyone knows somewhere where you can get the Canon mount version for less than £280 then please let me know!

I bought the 10-20 on Friday. On Saturday shot some stuff for Getty Images. This is the link
http://editorial.gettyimages.com/sour

Images 3,4 & 6 are with the 10-20 shot on the D2H as the D2X had the larger lenses

I got this lens a few months back and really like it.

You can do loads of fun stuff with it.

There is not too much distortion really, but I do often find myself setting it at about 12mm rather than the full 10mm.

You won't be dissapointed Steve.

Greg

ps. A friend came round in his new V8 Vantage last night and I am blown away. Its so sexy I wanted to have sex with its pipes!

I was even allowed to play with the loud pedal! Stunning car and by the looks of it, very well put together indeed!

This one had had the butterfly valve in the exhaust (?) removed so it sounded ridiculously noisy all the time. Oh how we laughed as we could still hear it about 2 minutes after it left my house!

I think you're looking for Filter->Distort->Lens Correction in CS2. Quite a complex but powerful tool.

Yep - fuse 22 in the boot does the same thing (it stops the valve from ever closing). Aston really didn't want anyone to know about this - but the info got out and most of us have done the 'fix'.

You can always use Edit->Transform->Warp and/or a combination of the other tools in that menu. I think Warp was in CS anyway...

I presume you use Nikon Capture 4.4 there is a vignetting tool in there as I have heard that may be a problem with the 10-20...though I havent seen it yet
