Water pump types

Are there more than one type of water pump for the Esprit?

I had mine reconditioned and thought I'd got the same one back but the fit from the hose (pump to engine) is tight and the garage says that it is a different pump. so:

Are there different pumps with different angles on the output?

Can you change the pump engine in situ?

Ah it was all going so well but now I am dripping water and cannot get the damn thing to seal.

Ahha just checked SJs website and found pre eng no 25###....and post eng number....

Anyone know the difference?

I recall something about Closer Impellor to Housing Clearances on the newer version.
