oil temp and srare rims required
Discussion
During track day at Donnington on friday, when 'pushing it' my oil temp was climbing above 140,almost off the guage! When i eased off the pace the temp dropped back fairly quickly to around 120. Is this normal for an M400? I've heard some people talk of upgrading oil cooler, is this necessary when doing track days? Someone on the day suggested i remove my grill mounted front number plate which I did, but this had no effect.
I'm also looking for a spare of rims for track days, has anybody got any for sale or possibly point me in the right direction.
Any advice on best deals on tyres?

How long were you out for at each session? I never stay out for more than 15 mins of fast laps and oil temp never goes above 120. Half an hour cool down before going out again (if it's open pit lane). Also you don't need to rev the ba**s off it - use higher gear and torque and you will be quicker and cooler! Also removing rear number plate does help get rid of some of the heat through the rear grill.
You are falling into the trap of high-revs = high speed. In the M400 it doesn't - try going around in a higher gear than you think you need and you'll be faster and the oil temp won't get about 110.
Search the US forums if you haven't the disipline to keep the higher gear as they have changed / upgraded some oil coolers.

Is it a steady 140 degs?
Factory response to this when I raised it was that the oil return from the turbos influences the temperature that you see. I had one of the first trackday sumps on GTO with oil temp. and pressure gauge fitted. The temperature went up to 140 degs at times but it was usually to do with cornering (can't remember left or right) and or braking. This had the effect of sploshing the hot oil return from the turbo temporarily onto the sensor. Try experimenting to see if your's is similar because I haven't a clue where the M400 sensor is and whether it could also apply to you.
