The past few months whilst pressing down the clutch pedal i was hearing a slight clicking noise (about every ten gear changes it would click).
Did'nt really think to much of it but the past couple of days the small clicking noise has gone but now about every ten minutes of driving there's a loud cracking noise almost sounding as if the clutch cable has snapped.

I dont no how the clutch system works the only thing i could think of if there's a wheel which cable runs on and its slipping in and out.

Any one any thoughts got a feeling this ones going to be expensive

The clutch is hydraulic, no cables, the pedal is connected directly to the master cylinder in the footwell, I would check there to see that all is tight and no fixings have come loose, is the noise coming from the footwell or inder the car ?, it is probably footwell, as i say no cables so check the linkages in the pedal box are all as they should be.

Good luck.

I'd suggest that you check you don't have any shingle or small stones trapped under the pedal.

We have a pea shingle drive that seems to work its way into the pedal box every few weeks. A bit alarming when I tried to brake and the pedal was solid as a result of a few pieces of trapped shingle.

Mark apsolotly spot on mate, took the ally cover off this morning and straight away culperate spotted there was a few bits and pieces in there fluff, sticks, spanners, shopping trolly, picnic basket - ect

.....

There was actually a small stone that had wedged its self under the pedal and a few other cracked stones with traces of ally on them, given it a good clean and all is well now.

Thanks again
