Hi, first time posting on the computer forum!

I've got a new MP3 player in the car, and yesterday I spent ages sorting out a Windows Media Player Playlist which is a mixture of MP3 and WMA files I want to listen to - 750 in total.
Burned it as a Data CD and it plays just fine. Trouble is, it isn't in the playlist sequence I want it - WMP seems to have resequenced every file into numerical/alphabetical order then burned them. Great - now any file I had duplicated is sitting next to each other, and the mix of tracks I'd put together is shot.

I'm sure this is easy but I can't find what this 'feature' is and how to make WMP cut the CD in the sequence I have it in the playlist.
Can anyone help?

Thanks
IanB

I'm trying to do something similar.
Are the tracks burned to the CD in the same order that they are on the hard drive? Did you drag and drop the tracks in the order you wanted them played?

They are literally in alphabetical order according to the name of the track, and any track which has the track number as part of the title is sequenced before alpha named ones.

For instance

01 I Got You (I Feel Good).MP3
02 Mama told me (not to come) Sterephonics.WMA
02 One I love REM.wma
03 Lenny Kravits_fly away.mp3
Bruce Springsteen - Born in the USA.MP3
Meatloaf - All Reved up.MP3
Various - track 1
Various - track 2

etc

I know I need to sort out track names but I put them in order on the playlist as I wanted them to play and it bears no resemblance to what has actually been put on the CD. Why the hell has WMP resequenced them?

I've just thought of another problem too. It's not been too bad on this CD because it was a favourite tracks compliation. But imagine what this is going to do when I want to just copy a few albums onto a CD, stuff it up is what it is going to do!

I think that if you make each album a separate folder on the CD, it will keep them in the same order as on the hard drive, which should be the same as the original source.

Use iTunes to create a playlist. Then burn it to a CD. It adds 1, 2, 3 etc in front of the track names.
