Edinburgh Monaro dealers - advice

Any views on the quality of work from Belmont Vauxhall in Edinburgh. Am thinking of using them to do my clutch rather than send it all the way to LSV. Just want to get an idea of the service etc as with mine being the iron block VT1 Holden 5.7 and T56 with a pull type clutch it's slightly different.

Any help would be great

never having used them myself I probably shouldnt be too critical but lets put it this way - DONT GO NEAR THEM WITH A 10FT BARGEPOLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The 2 Scot's guys from on here that have used them have had nothing but problems with Belmont. I'm sure V6 JDT will fill you in on his wasted 500 mile round trip for scheduled work they hadnt even ordered the parts in for!!! Dave52 had constant problems trying to get any work done - they have one mechanic who's had the 2 day training on the LS1 V8 engine from Vauxhall. Pricing wasn't too great either. He did reckon there's a very good Honda garage in Edinburgh and he was toying with using them for service work. Sadly he's no longer with us so can't ask which garage it was. If its just a clutch job you'd probably get more joy at the local Kwik Fit garage than at Belmont. Getting it down to LSV isn't going to be cheap or easy but at least they know what they're about and if its got to go all way down there you may as well see what else they can do while its there

The Honda dealer isn't that good....been there, done that!!!

Belmont does have a reputation for being staffed by primates though. I have at least a good contact in there parts dept (which shares with Murray Mazda/Volvo) so email me if you want any info.

Worth considering Premier Vauxhall in Sighthill industrial estate. They used to be Corvette/Cadillac dealers and still have all the diagnostic equipment. The Corvette owners seem to be pleased with them and I know that Atlantic Sportscars (US importers) use them for all their parts and servicing.
