Picked up on Saturday morning and spent the whole weekend behind the wheel
It surely has to be the greatest car ever made ? just can't fault it !
The sound from the sports exhaust over 6000 rpm is just intoxicating
My licence is in some serious danger - time to book a track day I think !
I have a couple of questions that maybe you guys can help me out with ?
1. At what revs does the limiter on a MK1 come in ? It semms to be about 8500rpm which is much higher than I had expected ? as the car has sports exhaust, sports cats and induction would this sugest that the ECU has maybe been remapped in addition ?
2. The BMC RS filter is looking a big mucky ! - what is the cleaning method / where can I get a new one ?
3. Who is recomended for a GT3 driver training day ? I need to adjust my style to 911 !
4. How do I check the oil ? - it came with a MK2 owners handbook

Congrats on getting your new wheels. Be nice if you could post some pictures of it.
Cant help much with the questions, but if checking the oil level on a water pumper is the same as an air cooled car, basic principle is to check the level when the engine is at operating temperature, with the engine still running on a level surface. HTH.

Oil gauge in the car seems to be pretty accurate. Go for a drive for 15 to 20 minutes to get it properly up to temperaure.(The engine needs to be run above 3000rpm for more than 10 seconds) Stop on a level surface and allow the engine to idle for at least 20 seconds and the gauge (composed of 9 or so horizontal bars beneath the fuel gauge) will flash a reading.

7,200 is std for mk1, yours must be re mapped..!!

Speak to Graham at RMA, or there is another called The Porsche Racing Driver Experience..?? ( both advertise in PCGB's Porsche post )

Idealy with the engine running, ( its a dry sump like early 911's )

Driver training; Another reccomendation for graham at RMA www.theRMAclub.com - Sabine Schmitz is one of their instructors which can't be bad! Secondly, Porsche Club GB trackdays are VERY good; well run, well priced, ALL porsche events (so plenty of porsche people to chat to when not on track), non-competitive and VERY god instructors available all day
