I picked up my TVR last week, and promptly took her overseas to Spa for the weekend, which was truly excellent! Got there and back without any dramas, plenty of noise for Jonny foreigner to listen to, and lots of smiling still going on! The other half is most put out that she's down to number 2 on the list now!!!

A few questions though - the speedo gave up the ghost after 20miles - easy to fix? Small blow from the left hand side of the engine somewhere - is this a job for a specialist? And she sometimes cuts out when slowing from 3rd to 2nd - especially at junctions! Again, specialist job?? By specialist I mean someone who knows more about cars than just how to check the oil...!!

Apart from that - it was bloody excellent - and I'm totally made up with it!

By the way - who were the other Chimaera drivers there? 3 others in the car park on Saturday evening...!!

Welcome! It looks like you had excellent weather for the Spa run.

Your cutting out problem could be just a dirty stepper motor valve. It's an easy DIY job and was covered in a recent Sprint.

The stepper motor is on top of the engine at the back. It has a black plastic 1-1/4" hex body. Unplug the connector, unscrew the stepper motor and clean both halfs of the valve with a solvent soaked rag. Be careful not to overtighten when refitting as the body is only plastic!

Nice one - I'll have a look at it. Apparently the 'blowing' may be a manifold gasket - which will be £350 + VAT... so a blunt welcome to a whole new world it is!!!

Will have a look at this though and see if I can solve at least one of the niggles myself!

Bloody hell, £350 for doing the gaskets.
It is an arse of a job, but if you have a good set of spanners and a lot of patients,
it can be done for a tenth of that price.
I think someone had a previous thread on the same subject, try Chimaera pages dot com.
Cheers Paul.
