While i was out in Jersey over the bank holiday weekend, i thought i'd take some shots. Mainly a bit more atmospheric and moody shots, but also with a few cars mixed in for good measure. I've tried out a few different ideas with some of the shots.

The shots are here - http://oliverwhittaker6200.fotopic.ne

Any feedback most welcome
Thanks in advance,
Oliver

Some very nice pics in there (bearingin mind the bad weather we had that weekend), especially sand yacht ones. This one caught my eye....

Some of your horizons are a bit skew though - could be made plum in PS.

As an Islander, its refreshing to see your black and white pics of some of the bays - we all too often get used to selling the typical brightly coloured beach scenes in the tourism blurb. I like the ones of St Aubin (bay1, bay2 and bay3) for this reason.

I see that you visited Jacksons up near the airport. They always seem to have an incredibly quick turnaround of stock, and despite the small size of the Island, are allotted a big quota of top end motors.

Also liked this one....

Hope you enjoyed your stay.

[miserable git mode]

Sounds bad I know, but I can rarely be bothered to click around through loads of thumbnails on someone's site - post your favourites here with a link to the rest.

I had a quick click on some of them, I like a few of the black and white ones, in particular there is one of some boats which caught my eye. A few of the flowers ones look really good to me. Some of your horizons are a bit wonky though...

I'm not surprised by their turnaround judging by the requirements needed to live on Jersey Some nice shots there, I was there this time last year for the bank holiday as well

I like the letterbox/panoramic cropping, shame the tide was out on those harbour/sea wall shots as I think a few waves would have put some interesting texture in the shots. Have to agree that the horizons do look wonky, if they're off-level then they need to be way off to look like they're meant to be that way, for example:

Thanks for all the feedback. Our flight onto the island on sunday was the first for 3 or 4 days due to the bad weather, but the weather was fantastic while we were there (from sunday till tuesday). This is the first time i'd used the 20D on the island, i used to use my powershot G3.

I managed to totally over-look some of the horizons being slightly out of skew, i'll definitely remember that in future I definitely agree that it either has to be totally level or way off so as not to look like a mistake.

I really enjoyed trying to capture a mood and depth with the st aubins bay shots. After looking through a few shots i'd taken in Jersey previously, and looking at some of the promotional photos, i thought i'd try something totally different that creates and captures a mood from the scene.

I'm always suprised when i visit Jacksons, they always seem to have a stunning range of cars, most of which i wouldn't see normally. There are certainly plenty of nice cars around the island.

Its always nice visiting the island (its somewhere i'd really love to live), we're due to go again a few more times over the summer.

Thanks again for all the great feedback its very much appreciated.
