Is it a fairly simple process to create a fullscreen windowless application in vb.Net?

I know vbscript fairly well, just never ventured into full fat vb before...

Vb.net is very different to vbscript - its not rocket science though - just buy a decent book.

if its a career thing - i would recommend c# over vb.net

Yup, VB.NET opens up all the window features. Odd shaped windows, transparency the lot. Set Option Strict on and it's a proper language now.

Use the wpf beta to create some awesome looking guis, it's going to change how apps look forever (but probably go through a few years of not needed flashy stuff first ), but whatever you do try and use c#, VS lets you see designer created code by default, the compiler is much tighter and the IL it creates is more efficient.

How can the IL be more efficient, it's the same regardless of the original language surely?

There are certain benefits to both languages:

VB.NET:
Migration wizard *shudders*
Better support for interop to COM with optional parameters, etc.

C#:
Better support for strong naming (not so much in .NET 2.0/VS 2005, though)
More appropriate language for the Framework and CLR features
Better refactoring support built in, and third party tool support (ReSharper, etc)

The C# compiler is better than the VB.NET one - not immensely so, but a little. Real world, that's not often a reason to pick one over the other - there are better ways of tuning an application.

Anyway - original question - full screen form in VB.NET... haven't touched VB in a loooooong time, but it should be something like the following within the main form:

Me.MinimizeBox = False
Me.MaximizeBox = False
Me.FormBorderStyle = System.Windows.Forms.FormBorderStyle.None
Me.TopMost = True
Me.WindowState = System.Windows.Forms.FormWindowState.Maximized

Many thanks chaps!

A fullscreen mozilla browser took all of two lines of code and a couple of static property settings.

Fantastic
