Dismantling 944 seats

Chaps,

In my history of VW's, I achieved excellent results from dismantling the interiors of secondhand cars, sticking the seat covers in a washing machine, drying and re-fitting them. Worked a treat - even the most mouldy set of seat covers would come up almost like new.

Now I have a 944 with a linen interior, and would like to do the same. Has anyone ever taken the covers off these seats? If so, do you have any advice (or, even better, an on-line guide on how to do it?)
