Been looking to get a 2+2,something nice for occasional use as have other transport, love the look, love the sound, love the name, looked at m3 bmw,bit common, dont like jags, have a merc, porsche nice but dont know really (i do quite like them!)See a masser at goodwood & loved it!!!!
Have been told that you need very deep pockets, i will only do about 3000 miles a year but i dont want endless payout!
Are they simlar to tvr in ownership where people love them that much that they just put up with it!!
I see you can get some late low milage ones about £20k which is about my budget!!
what do you guys think, do you keep them a long while or just have them for a bit to try & then sell them!
cheers for any help!

Had mine just over 5 yrs now, and from experience at 3k pa you should be fine budgeting £2k pa unless something SERIOUS goes wrong. But dont be fooled they are not like massers of old, they are pretty reliable now. Sparts are expensive though and even smallish things like discs and pads all round and you wont get much change from £1200 quid.
Minor services are £500 ish Belts + service £800 ish. Be carefull with the go pedal a set of rear tyres can be worn out in 3k miles if you like flooring it.

PS only one colour to get RED!

Well Said !
Red Does look Brilliant without a doubt. Wish I could have had Red (looking back now)
We went for Silver as Red was not available at the Time of Purchase (Second Hand)
For Excellent Advice on here ask 'Nigello' - He has very good advice (Thanks for your info Nigello - much appreciated)
This Gentleman is a Great Source of Info ( I dont know how he does it sometimes! ) as.. is 'Rich' Even though he went to Morgan ! (only joking mate !) Your car is awsome. Wish I could have your car!
(Great Colour by the way )
We had a bad Experience with 'Actuators' on the 3200 and a certain 'Trident' Warranty which was always an uphill struggle to get anything fixed. But .....

Its a Great car though but certain items can be an expensive issue (seriously
e.g Actuator's , Clutch and the Labour time at Main Dealer's for Oil Pressure Sensor.
The Performance of the 3200 is awsome though! especially when the Turbo's kick in ! = Brilliant !
In ways I Miss our car but we had a bad experience with the main Dealer.
The experience of the 3200 is awsome but the Dealership to which you have such a stunning car serviced can have a defining effect on your experience of Maserati 3200 Ownership.
A wonderful car though - Period. Just dont get to wild in the wet!

Its down to persoanl taste, personally not a fan of Red. Silver or Dark Colours (like Serbring Blue ) looks good.

So far I've had no major problems with mine (touch wood), if you haven't driven a rear wheel drive car before be prepared for that sudden burst of acceleration (esp when both turbo's kick in). I test drove a 99' plate before I got mine and found the throttle overly sensitive, I understand this was sorted out on post 2000/2001 models.

Another important point: though it's a 4 seater it's hardly the ideal car for the missus to use as a runaround (unless her name is Jodie Kidd).

My Misses didnt like driving the 3200 - I think it was partly when the Turbo's cut in but mainly due the hard clutch and sometimes awkward Gearbox until the Oil's had warmed up.

Thanks guys sounds like about £2k a year when i am going to do about 3K miles! You lads make me laugh with all your banter about "colours" I think they are one of those cars that look nice in everything!! I always get "silver" as i think they dont show the dirt to much!
They seem to be the same price as tvr cerbera to mantain as i did look at getting one but the running costs scared me on the tvr!!!!
I will see what other response i get on here, might have to get something a bit cheaper to run!!

Some more tips:
1) shop around for service prices, they can vary by a great margin
2) find a good (and ideally cheap) specialist for those non-service related jobs
3) shop around for a warranty. The most important question is not 'what does it cost' but 'will they cough up when needed' so do some asking around. I got a good deal through an Alfa/Maserati specialist in my area. The going rate seems to be around £1500 but you can get respectably covered for under 1K if you look hard enough.
