is there a way you can remotely disable hardware without actually logging in or going to the machine?

There is a user on the network we'd like to restrict what they can do without them knowing - the only way I can see of disabling the hardware in question is to login to that machine (either remotely or otherwise) - is there another way?

Cheers

Remote registry manipulation? (regedt32/connect to..) Just need to know the filename of the device driver, search for it, disable the entry or something? They'l just get an exclamation in device manager. Change the permissions on the key to stop them re-installing it. As you have probably discovered, in computer managment the device manager is read-only on remote machines

You can disable everything in HKLM/system/current control set/services

just set start type to "4" for disabled.
