Hi Jon, I've had my 172 for 3 years now, and have used it as a daily driver, 50K miles, will be going hopefully before August to make way for the Chim
Ride quality is pretty good, I found that the original tyres, continetals (sp) were pretty rubbish, on toyo proxes now.
MPG I can normally get 34/36 50 mile round trip per day.
Servicing, last one at 48K was 250 quid, had a huge one at (I think) 24K when I needed pads and discs replacing plus a few other bits and bobs, think that came to about 500, which was a shock!! I only used Renault for servicing to keep the warranty up.
Have to say tho, its a great car to drive, you can fling it about on the road like a go kart

When you get the Chim you'll come out beaming if a service costs as little as £500 at an Indy

You mean Mk1 like the clio williams or Mk2 phase one.. ?

Cliosport.net is best for mk2's
williamsclio.co.uk for Mk1's

I have just got a 172 phase 1 Exclusive and it is pretty dam good. Getting between 32 MPG (Nurbergring!) and 50 MPG at 65MPH on the motorway so averaging around 38 mpg all in (running on Optimax, V-Power and Ultimate 100 in DE).

I looked at 6 cars most trashed and looked shabby nearly gave up looking. IF you find a good one I think there good fun. I have had it 10 days and have done 2000 miles.

Cheers

Stu

Picking up my 2nd edition 172 Cup later this afternoon and can't wait

Was really impressed during my test drive, it has the perfect balance between comfort and handling, certainly puts my old Leon Cupra-R to shame - I found out later the shocks wre set towards the hard side too...
