New tyres needed - Any suggestions?
Discussion
I shall sortly need to replace my rear tyres.
I'm currently runing Bridgestone SO2's on the rear and SO3's on the front.
Trouble is, I've been told that the SO3's are no longer available.
The dilemma that I have is 'what do I fit'
My preference is to fit Goodyear Eagle F1's, Has anyone got any experience of this combination.
Would welcome any recommenations.
The SO3's on the front have only done about 1500 miles, so I'm reluctant to fit new boots all round.

Dunlop SP9000 225/50/16Z rear
And they fit and balance them at your home or work!!
Good prices too!

Another vote for Toyos here. Very good in all conditions. Super grippy in the dry (so I'm looking forward to the warmer weather
).
The problem with the Proxes is that they don't do a Z-rated front tyre. I'be had no problems with mine though, I rarely go above 150mph and my insurance co were happy...

Dunlop SP9000
Told to use these by John Reid at TVR, fantastic in the snow and wet, can be a little slippy in the dry as they are a very hard compound.
Had mine fitted Augustish last year, done nearly 18K miles on them and still very little wear showing.

18K and hardly any wear - confirms all my suspisions on these Dunlops.
Far too hard a compound for a light car like a TVR.
I had problems finding suitable tyres for my TVR (225 50 15) and had to buy Toyo 888's.. nutty tyre. Grip is awesome.

Anybody fitted Pirellis? The P Zero is standard fitment on my S-Type V8 (Monaco 18ins wheels option, 245-40-18 ZR) and the Jag is bigger, fatter and heavier than my Chim - just like its owner...
road noise is OK, handling good and they look pretty. I too am considering a new set of tyres for the Chim and see that Black Circles recommend the GSD3 Eagle or Avon ZZ3 see www.blackcircles.com/tyres/tvr
Any experience of the Good Years out there?

I had Eagle F1 GSD2s fitted to the front and Falken FK451s to the rear about 3 weeks ago - a fantastic combo compared to the crap I had on before (Marshall power racers fitted by previous owner) and they seem to have so much grip both in the dry and also the monsoon we had the other week.
Both are hard to find now though - the F1s repalced by the GSD2 are not available in 15" and the 451s have been replaced by the 452, though this is supposed to be a very good replacement.

Just a wee point to add. Done Bridgestones all round, and also tried Goodyear Eagles.
I'd say the SP9000s are superb! I use the Chim daily in all conditions, and have to get to where I'm going kinda quickly on occassions. Get my...erm...drift??
Don't agree they're too hard for the car, at all.
Quality!!!
