I guess the other half of this question is what to do with the Diff.. The newer BTR Diff has a final drive of 3.45 to 1, and the later BW T5 Box has a ratio of 0.8 to 1 in top so this would give 2760 rpm per 1000. The Old GKN Diff has a final drive of 3.31 to 1, and the early LT77 Box has a ratio of 0.83 to 1 in top so this would give 2747 rpm per 1000.

Cheers,
Matt.

So what ratio do I get with a GKN diff and a T5 box as fitted to my '95 car?

ETA, I should have done the sums before asking...by the logic above I should be at 2.648:1 overall!

These may help a little assuming you are talking Chimaera T5 box

Std 1996 4.0 T5 box below

As you can see the gear lever on a Cossie box is a good 4" ish back
What you can't see is the prop shaft on a Cossie n TVR box is diffo. The Chimaera box output spline is larger so you will need a matching prop. The input shaft clutch spline is deeper aswell and the nose (clutch bearing carrier part) is also a diffo diameter, plus as mentioned above the g/box mount holes are spaced diffo.
Saying all that, a Cossie T5 box will bolt straight upto a 4.0 V8 engine (given all the bits lol)

My 4.6 was in my wedge, now in chim. The engine suits the chim gearing much better. In my opinion, the gearshift is also more positive.
