I need urgent help please!

I have only owned my Tuscan for 7b weeks 4 of them it has been stuck at TVR Gatwick waiting for a clutch to be fitted, problem is there doesnt seem to be a TVR Clutch in the whole of europe!!! God knows how this can happen. I have moved in to TVR ownership with my eyes wide open, i have my "spare money" in the bank for the problems that i expect to arise, but i didnt expect parts not to be available esp. something as common as a clutch!!! Just to make the whole situation worse, i booked the car and myself to drive to Le Mans a week tomorrow. I have spent all day on the phone to just about evety TVR dealer, Blackpool, TVR Power, everyone says the same thing sorry we havent got any and not sure when we will have. I fell in love with my Tuscan the day i first set eyes on it, i just want it fixed.......... Does anyone else know of any garage, anywhere that can supply a clutch????

Apparently from what's been posted elsewhere AP Racing have a shipment ready to go to TVR but won't release them until they get paid allegedly. Do none of the bigger dealers or indies have any in stock?

Have you tried PR Woods in Southend? - Phil had a Cerbie in for a new clutch a few days ago.

Wife just rang AP Racing themselves, to see if we could get one direct. Not a chance, they are licensed with TVR Only, they told her to try TVR Power, like we haven’t already!

It's not a good state of affairs this. You would think by now they would have sorted out the supply and demand problem with clutches. The last time i needed one i had a to wait a month or so, and that was over a year ago!

They did when NS injected the readies. But now they've ran out of cash again suppliers aren't getting paid again. But don't tell the rose-tinted brigade...there'll be a new factory along shortly, and a new speed 12 - I gather to be called the aviating porcine.

am i right in thinking these are just a racing type twin plate jobby? if so why dont you just send them to ap or helix to have re plated?

This sort of thing really really me off, we all no these cars are prone to go wrong and most of us accept this.
How are you supposed to keep and unreliable car on the road if you cant get the parts.

because no-one seems to recon these, the friction plates are standard off the shelf jobs but its the cover plate(s) that are the problems, they seem to warp or twist with the stick they get as the legs of the cover are quite long,
I have changed a few of these clutches now and two of the cover plates were beyond any repair,
I have also asked on a previous post about re-conditioning these units, but no answers!

P.S. I am positive that if these clutches had a decent slave cylinder to operate them in the first place then they may last a bit longer, as every cerb or tuscan Ive driven with this clutch/slave cyl arrangement suffered from clutch drag which kills clutches very quickly and dont do the gearbox any favours,
It is a terrible design!

Is it out of the question to buy and change the slave cylinder for a better one?

Try Racing Green on 01252 544888 - they replaced mine at less than a week's notice when all others were saying they had none.

Or buy my Tuscan! The clutch is quite new.

Autocraft have fitted a triple-plated clutch into my Tuscan. I don't know if this will help you, but it certainly stops any dependency on TVR.
Give Dave a call 01722411118. Not sure what the comparitive price is, but it will certainly last longer.

Still no joy with any TVR dealer, TVR Gatwick have said they are expecting some delivered on Monday, if they arrive they will move heaven and earth to get it and 2 others ready for Lemans. I called Dave at Autocraft (you missed a extra 1 in the tel number :-)) who was great he is getting back to me today with hopefully a solution............watch this space!

Have you tried Austec? No idea if they have any, but worth a call as they are just round the corner from Gatwick TVR
