Was with my GF and mate and his wife at the weekend we got very drunk anyway we moved from St. James Sq. to Stratton Street in Mayfair (my mates wife was the sober one and driving) and left the car there at about 1 am ish - came back at 3 am - and the car was gone!!! - It had been towed (along with three other cars).

Now basically the sign on the lampost said Permit parking only - it did not say what were the controlled hours or that it was a tow away zone - is this correct?

- to top all things off when we picked up the car at the Park Lane pound they had dented it as well (which we informed them of).

If there are no times it means all the time.

Suprising though, most residents permit areas are fine to park in after 5.30 Mon - Sat and all day Sunday.

Matt.

You can get a repair estimate together with a witness statement that the damage was not there when the car was left and advise them that they pay up for the damage or you take civil action against them.

I was checking into a hotel in Bayswater a couple of years ago, on a quiet residential street, and parked right at the front door so as to readily unload the bags. We had been in the lobby for less than two minutes, when we saw the tow-truck appear. Dashing out, we found the car had already been ticketed, and they were about to remove it. We managed to halt the removal process by jumping in the car.(they are not allowed to move it with anyone inside). Luckily it was my friend from abroad who had hired the car. So he didn't pay the fine
