Sump Gasket Part No

I need to replace the sump gasket on my Griffith 500 '98. I think the part number is SG144 (SDi Rover 3.5ltr -86) but by the time I find out, the sump will be on the garage floor !! Can anyone confirm please ?

Hi,
I believe the serpentine engine (which yours should be) had an extra 2 sump bolts compared to the pre serpentine block. So the gasket will be different to the 3.5 version. However I understand that TVR did not use a sump gasket, just sealant.

Thanks - I read in the Bible that there are 16 and 17 bolt sumps but I have purchased a gasket and sealant so lets see what works best tonight when I get the spanners out !!

Real shame the "alternative parts list" on the Griffith pages doesnt cover gaskets ... maybe I will offer and update.

what a witch !!

The gasket was correct and I smeared gasket sealant on both sides which located it and sealed at the same time. The offending old gasket had been over tightened to the point of metal to metal contact ! Most of the oil pick-up was therefor blocked with cork.

Biggest (2hrs) problem was the last bolt near the oil pressure sensor. Cant get a socket on it & couldnt remove the oil sensor to gain access. Top Tip - do this bolt early before the sealant gets a grip !
