Hope someone can shed some light on this problem. I'm self employed and have a company website which is hosted by a third party. They also host two email addresses for me, one which is myname@companyname.co.uk for clients and the other is enquiries@companyname.co.uk for responding to advertising etc. I have a third BT email address which I use for personal mail, logging into forums etc.

The problem is that somehow the company name addresses appear to have been highjacked, because I get numerous undeliverable messages back everytime I check my emails. The return path addresses are not however the above, but nonsense sets of letters at the company name eg rghyt@companyname.co.uk, in other words, addresses that don't actually exist. All of these messages relate to US style stock picking recommendations which look as though they come from boiler house operations. I am certainly not happy knowing that these things might be travelling round with my companies name on them. The BT address is not affected by this problem.

The hosting company say that the problem does not lie with them and it must be at my end of the chain. My end of the chain is a stand alone PC on a broadband connection which is firewalled up to the hilt and swept on a daily basis for infection and nothing shows up here.

Is this a common problem and is there any solution to this other than changing hosting company?

Ya can't do feck all about it - you have to live with Reply-From spoofing - its a comon spamming technique - I get multiple messages delievered to me, FROM ME!

Invest in a spam filter and hope that other have too.

Additionally read up on how/why/what Spam is/does/and is created and then if anyone complains you'll have the answer.
