Hi Everyone.

My C4 Cab roof is creaking alot at the moment.

Had the roof down over the weekend first time since buying the car with a hardtop.

Now the thing is making a noise, very anoying.

I know it would not be perfect, but!

Can it be tighten up in some way?

If still under warranty sounds like a call to your supplying dealer again!

Boyfly: Yep. Take it to your dealer and "ask advice" about the creaking. To some extent all softtops will do this a little...it probably just needs some lubricant.

When you get the car serviced your dealer will use a silicon based (I think) lube on all the components of the roof that touch one another. Get a pot of that and basically spray it on all the seals etc and wipe the excess off.

You want the Porsche approved one and to get their advice as (apparently) if you use the wrong stuff it can adversely affect the seals.

That might be Porsche-bull but I wouldn't take the risk, myself.

Anyway - they should be able to sort you out in a hot minute given there is no actual physical problem.

BTW: Both my Boxsters have creaked a bit. Stick a load of lube on - problem goes away...

HI,
I am not sure if you ment that the Hard Top is creeking or the soft top. I have a 996 Cab and I brought it in the summer with the Hard top off. There was no noise, but come winter and hard top being put on, god the noise drove me mad!! I had to rub a thin grease in to the whindow gap. This solved the issue, but left a line flim of crease on top of the windows.
O well we can't have it all.

I have also heard that the windows are adjustable (not sure is this is true though?) so this might resolve the issues if it is the soft top that is causing the noise.

cheers
