Slow and sluggish 406

I've got a 51 plate 406 110bhp LX estate with wich I hope you can help me with a question.

1. The car feels a bit sluggish low down and having not owned one of these before, I'm not sure if that's the norm. I've only managed 110mph in it and with 110bhp I thought there might be a bit more in it?

Any replies would be most appreciated

You should get more, I would have thought, I used to have a TD Xantia and the would do 125 easily and I think they were only 100bhp, tops!

Try the simple stuff, check the Air filter and check the throttle cable move freely and isn't fraid, I drove a BX for about a year with a dodgy throttle cable, when I noticed it and changed it it relly flew (ish!)

I have a 52 plate 110 and it is painful! Low down there is absolutly nothing unti over 1.5K and then it starts to attempt to go!

I think it is normal, I have driven a few others which all were the same.

i agree with lee, really low down theres nothing, but after about 1500 rpm the mid range is good and it pulls quite strongly(for what it is) also ive seen 120 out of mine-on a track of course.

Is it a derv one? Hdi110?

Check air filter and EGR operation.

Remap from sp-tuning (speedbuster.de) on ebay for £180 gets you 140bhp, so might be an idea if it is the derv??

Yes it's a diesel (HDi 110). Thanks for your response guys, I'll certinly look into getting it chipped in the near future.
