I bought one of those aluminium engraved jobbies for my Chim, against advice on previous threads about the sticky pads not being strong enough to hold it on to the curved screen and the inevitable has happened...

Anybody know where I can get a half-decent looking holder that'll stay put?

Mine stays on no problem, just put 1 pad on top of another where needed.

Me too, but in the end I took it back for a refund, and bought a PH sticky one instead!

Hmm mine stayed on for 3 years, may still be on I sold the car so I don't know. I guess we are ttalking about the etched stainless one? if so you could try putting a slight 'bend' into it so it follows the contour of the screen, worked for me.

Sorry, should have made it clear, went to Halfords and bought 2 packs of pads and put em all round the tax disc holder.

And me but when I changed the actual disc a couple of months ago, the PH 'sticky' one was somewhat less sticky when trying to refix to the screen.
Ted- I want a refund!

I went for a slightly more simple option..
My Tax disk lives hidden in the car and only appears on request..

Probably a bit naughty but saves me playing Blue Peter with sticky-back plastic and a washing up bottle

That's "failure to display" regardless of whether you actually have a valid tax disc?

It is an offence, but in over 25 years of riding a motorcycle, I've never had a peep of a complaint about not displaying a road fund licence (they routinely get nicked or 'weathered' on bikes, and the BiB have on-line ability to check whether you're taxed (and insured/MoTd) these days. Indeed, it is usually checked before you are pulled so I doubt it would be readily written up unless they really wanted to give you a hard time.

Yeah probably.. Its not a recommendation for others but it stops the 'less honest' pinching it when the roof is down.

I probably should stick it to the screen.. (Right where's me gaffer tape and superglue? )

You can get tamper resistant holders, I had one on the MX-5 & you would knacker the task disk before getting away with it.
