A very loud Mk II Exige (not an 'S') was hassling me on my drive home from the station this evening. Almost managed to get home without turning childish, but could resist, and right at the end i opened the throttle. Exige just about managed to keep up (it seemed to be droppinig away but only slightly).

Who says 400's are slow....

... or maybe its just Exige aren't particularly quick (in a straight line)

0-60 is stated as 4.9 and 0-100 is 13.2 so from a standing start it's probably the quicker car by a few tenths. However, we were doing about 15mph so i had the advantage with all my V8 torque!

I love my car

You had the advantage of knowing when you were going to floor it though ..those tenths of a second before he realised and booted his car to keep up will have made the dfference, much less the performance of the car.

(well done though )

You're probably right!

Really do like the Exige, especially the S. Don't think i could bring myself round to buying one though - think i would miss the V8 sound too much

At a recent track day at Snetterton I had the opportunity of checking out my 5 litre Chim against an Exige and both an Elise 111S and 111R. The Chim was faster, but not by much! In all cases, it took a few laps to catch up with whichever Lotus before getting past on the back straight. It then took another good few laps before they were out of the rear view mirror. While I had them on both straights with outright “grunt”, they all made up significant ground by later braking and faster corner speeds. I wouldn’t want to do the same on a twisty track. Nice cars but they just don’t “sound” right.

One thing I will say is that all 3 Lotus’s (Loti?) managed the whole day without a breakdown. The Chim didn’t manage that!
