Thinking of undertaking a few days beneath the car this summer to have a go at waxoilng the chassis, I did this once before on the 'S' but seem to remember having a bit of tough time getting to the tops of the outriggers (where the tube meets the body), has anyone got any good tips on how to get to these tricky to access areas? Preferably solutions that don't involve lifting the body off!

Also are there any particular products that are best to use? Is it better to paint or spray?

Any advice gratefully appreciated.

I used Dinitrol, from Frost to do mine. They do a flexible tube with a dispersing (ie: shooting out sideways in all directions) head which is great for getting to the top of the outriggers.

Update: This hose can be found here.

Excellent!

Many thanks for that, looks like that is what I'll go for.

Did you do the whole chassis with the areosol(s) or just the top of the outriggers? Just trying to get an idea of how much one can will cover.

Thanks

I did all over the outriggers and spots of the chassis with less than one of the spray cans.

Here's the process I used, generally the coating was sound it was just flaking in a couple of places...

- Picked off loose coating with screwdriver.
- 'Polished' off any loose rust etc with a drill powered wire brush thing.
- 2 coats of POR 15 on the bare metal
- 1 coat of under chassis seal (to make it match the rest)
- 1 coat of that stuff...

I recommend getting a tarp or old blanket under the car before you start or risk a telling off!
