Thought I was a Windows power user till now!! I am trying to copy 4GB of files (pictures, audio, xls, docs etc) onto a DVD for backup purposes. I thought I could simply drag and drop files from windows explorer just like I do with CD's but Oh No!!!

So... can anyone tell me how to do this or if I need some software where I can get it (shareware obviously)

Thanks...Gary

Nero will do this for you. Download the Demo, and then go into the Wizard, ceeate a "Data DVD" and Roberts your mothers brother.

If you're buying though, get version 6... doesn't suffer from the feature bloat of version 7. (IMO).

You should be able to pick up an OEM version for around £5.

To do that with a CD, you must have some software that manages it for you in the background. Does XP come with this installed as standard?

IIRC Nero has its own version that allows this - perhaps it also has one for DVD?

Copying to CD is fine with Windows XP. It's DVD's that are a problem. Whats really annoying is that I have Media Edition and you can use that to copy "media" files to DVD such as photos, vids and music BUT not any other type of file!!! Ahhhhh!!!!
