Does anyone know how to disable the airbag warning light on a 993,
I'm fed up with pressing the i button each time the car is started,
it's not easy with a 6 point harness

Take the bulb out!

Paul, i am suprised this comes on, in a clubsport, was your car once fitted with airbags?

I don't know if it is done by the bosch hammer, but when I looked at taking my old airbag wheel off, the service guru chap did tell me it could be reset to stay off.....maybe that was a Porsche way of saying remove the bulb after all?

Mine's doing this... however the light goes out of its own accord after driving for 3 minutes or so.

I presume this means I'm running the risk of the steering wheel exploding when I'm in the middle of a particularly heroic slide, or not as the case may be

Paul, the car was originaly specced with an airbag (according to the ticket under the bonnet), some
girly german doctor bought it first!

My 964 did this too, apparently the main culprits are the airbag ecu (bright orange box under dash) or the clock circuitry where the airbag warning light is mounted.

In the end i got sick of resetting the light and took the bulb out, however it still trips the computer everytime you start up so you will still have to click the button, however then you won't have a bright red light shining in your eye all the time at least.

Just so everyone knows when the light is on, or any circuitry is displaced eg. the bulb the sysem defaults to being OFF, this means you are in no risk of it exploding in your face.

However this fix should only be attempted for cars not being used on the road, and no responsibility will be accepted for anyone disabling their airbag system whatsoever.

I dont have the airbag wheel, its allways been a Momo, so if I remove
the bulb that should do it?, will the warning light still show if another
fault develops?

The airbag warning light wont show as it willbe in your ashtray or wherever you throw it!

Sounds like on your car the reason the airbag warning light is on is you dont have the right steering wheel.

The computer will ALWAYS flash on when the car is started till you turn it off with the switch no matter what (wish you could turn it off) and it does still function for all the other symptoms eg abs failure.

Thanks for that, I'm now used to turning it off, just a bit of a pain
