I thought I'd start a random questions thread for people to post their... well, random questions.

I shall start.

1) Can I use my switch card in France?

2) What days is it possible to drive the circuit?

3) Roughly how much are peages?

4) Is the supermaket the best place to get beer? And what are we likely to get charged for a pint?

5) How much cash should we carry realistically?

Also, where can I get a couple of inflatible beer coolers?

I may post some more when I remember.

Cheers

Dan

Morrisons were doing 'England' inflatable beer coolers this morning.

Otherwise, Yes for Switch cards (look for the Cirrus and Maestro logos), yes for supermarket beers, £3-4 a pint in bars (Johnny Foreigners aren't binger drinkers like us), the tolls are only a few Euros (€20? total), driving the circuit anytime upto about an hour before and after each track session during the week, and from early doors Saturday. Don't sweat the cash, they have cash points in france too.

What he said.

There really is very little anyone needs to do to prepare for going to Le Mans. Anything you do choose to do is purely optional. The supermarkets even sell bags of ice until about sat am when they run out.

You can drive (part of) the circuit on Friday, and I think it closes early Sat morning. You'll also be able to get on it within a few hours of the race finishing on Sunday evening too. And there's typically little traffic and never seen any police. So by 8pm Sunday evening you can normally drive down the mulsane straight (now with roundabouts), to the mulsane (roundabout) corner, down to Indianapolis, using all the curbs down to Arnage, hard on the brakes and heading up towards the Porsche Curves (although the road section turns off before you get there). It's a very, very good reason to be sober on the Sunday afternoon/evening. Could not believe I could be on what was a race track only a few hours before with very little or no traffic the first time I found exactly how much was now "road" again.

1) Can I use my switch card in France? I THINKS SO, YES

2) What days is it possible to drive the circuit? THURSDAY AND FRIDAY - BUT NOT THE WHOLE CIRCUIT JUST SOME OF IT (ABOUT HALF)

3) Roughly how much are peages? WHAT'S THE HELL'S A PEAGE?

4) Is the supermaket the best place to get beer? And what are we likely to get charged for a pint? YES, CAN'T REMEMBER THE EXACT PRICE BUT IT'S CHEAPER THAN THE UK.

5) How much cash should we carry realistically? DEPENDS WHAT YOU WANT TO DO. PERSONALLY, I ALWAYS TAKE MORE CASH THAN I NEED (100 EUROS PER DAY) WITH A VIEW TO COMING BACK WITH CHANGE.

Viamichelin.com quotes about £15 one way for the peages.

Because it's one of the only bits of French I actually know
