TVR / Le Mans flag attaching conundrum

Today my eldest kid and I have started packing for Le Mans on Thursday. He said, "can we attach an England flag to the car?" I replied, "if you can find a way that is secure and doesn't look too stupid". After 20 minutes of poncing around he finally came up with the following solution, which I thought looked quite amusing:
However, after a two mile "test drive" it was all over the place - it seemed to be able to detatch itself with consumate ease. As such, my question: How can I attach the flag to the boot and maintain its unity with the car?
Suggestions on a postcard please!
Edite to add: Ah nearly forgot. I also had this idea of attaching a portable DVD player to the back of the car so that during any traffic jams the car behind has something to look at. However, same dilemma - how do you attach such things to the back of the car?
