Simple flasher unit test

You probably got fed up 4 lines into my last post so this is short and simple and is for people who dont know much about electrics it will sound obvious to Mr ferranti.
To test the flasher on a S2
take the flsher out of the car
put a 12v+ supply to terminal 49
put the 12v- supply to terminal 31
get a 21w lamp and touch the soldered nipple on the end onto terminal 49a and the side of the lamp to terminal 31 it should flash quicker than normal if it doesnt flash the unit is duff,but make sure you use a lamp that you know works.
To test the indicator circuit take the flasher out of its housing,short out terminals 49 and 49a on the socket and test your indicators they should light but not flash.
If one side does and one doesn't you have a fault elsewhere
If neither work on one side it is probably your switch
If one only on one side works its probably a connection at the lamp
all the above assume you dont have any duff bulbs
