Can anyone point me at an article detailing the differences between S1/S2 & S3's?

Not off the top of my head... but differences are door length, dash, mirrors, bonnet... some S1's were 2.8, the rest are 2.9... some suspension bits IIRC...

Try
http://homepages.enterprise.net/roadrunner/tvr8.shtml
or
www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Speedway/2874/
for a quick overview.
The most comprehensive source of information is, of course, Steve Heath's book.

Note that the S is the only TVR with a single letter as its name. There's no such car as an S1.

As in "What's the "S" for?"

The "Bible" has more detail, although TVR tended to build the cars according to the parts they had, rather than the original spec., so they're all the same - unique!

Well to be picky the official name is either the 280S or the 290S, according to most V5s and other official data.

Yeah but they stuck S2 down the side of mine, not 290S as on the log book

What is this? Pedants 'R' Us?

No markings on my car... no "S" badge, no "S3" moniker on the side... just two TVR badges...

Who cares? Drive it and enjoy it!

Don't forget PH own info which can be found at www.pistonheads.com/tvr/s/
navigate on the left hand side to look at the various models.

Same as mine, 'cept they misspelt 2 and put 3 instead!

It's an S3, but without the newer bonnet, driving lights and electric mirrors.

The fact they are all different seems great to me, when you see how much Corsa/Nova/Escort etc. owners spend at Halford making their cars individual!

Mine says "290" on the V5...

... got the later bonnet (no hump, but slats and driving lamps)... and a switch panel layout not featured in the bible...!

EDIT - oh yeah... S3c...

290... sure it isn't one of those nice Wedge things... It could explain a lot you know!
