There is quite a bit of tollerance in the fit of the panels and getting them in just the right position is a fiddle....plus, how do you know when they are just right?!! I've not had my car long either and I have experienced what you have but at a slightly higher speed, usually above 80, 85mph.

Sorry, cant help on upgraded rubbers.

iv had the same, just gonna glue a second thin rubber stip onto the original to make it a tighter fit.

Try taking some washers out from under the alloy location plates, at front of panels? Will make the panel closer to the roof.

I bought some door draught strip from B&Q - the sticky (very sticky) backed kind that you would normally put round a front door frame.

Ive then used this on my one poorer fitting panel to create a better seal. That gets me to 90mph before the noise picks up again. But even after 90 its wind rush noise rather than hole whistling noise which is more livable.

Thanks for the info, I have just found a web site that sells thicker single sided foam at the same width so probably going to try this, will let you know if it works.

Heres the web address for info www.tapes-direct.co.uk

Nice one. Let us know which you bought too. Mine is coming unstuck in places and it would be easier to stick new foam/tape around instead of trying to glue the existing stuff down again. Obviously at this time of year the roof panels live in the boot as much as possible though

noisybugger - did you try this yet? I just measured my rubber and its 1cm wide by 4mm thick. On the tapes-direct website the only suitable single sided sticky tape is 4.5mm thick - this could well be the same tape TVR already use.

Just fitted the new foam used the 10mm by 4.5 as you pointed out, one roof panel now completely cured other still no improvement. The foam is denser than the TVR it is more like a rubber than foam.

I am going to try putting two layers on the passenger side panel as I have sussed where the air leak is and if you open the window it goes so it can not be too much of a gap. Only worried about possibly two rubbers being too thick?

Thanks. Mine isn't too bad but some of the rubber seal stuff is coming unstuck plus I'd like to do 120mph in silence (from the panels that is), its only quiet to 90-100 at the moment. Means long high speed runs in Europe are a pain. This may well solve it. I'll order a roll now :-)

Its not really a major mod. There is already tape running around the panel which seems to be 10mm x 3.8-4.0mm. The tape we've ordered is 4.5mm. The idea is the slightly thicker tape makes for a better seal.

I got my tape today so will try it tomorrow (mind you, I probably won't be doing a test drive with the roof on in this weather!).

It's not just the rubber/foam seals themselves, it's making sure they are sat in the right place when the panels are fitted. The foam seal should sit on top of the raised lip around the opening. You can see this from inside the car. As you might expect I don't think all panels fit as well as they could. i reckon my passenger side one is about 10mm narrower than it ideally should be. Having said that, with new foam and careful fitment I don't really get any noise up to 120ish, private road obviously . It may well be ok at higher speeds, but haven't found that out since making the changes.

Has the thicker tape cured the problem ?
Feedback would be appreciated.

Each car is slightly different. On mine the thicker tape seems to have helped lower whistling above 110mph (Ahem), but seems slightly more wind 'rustly' at 80-90mph. I've not had the roofs off to fiddle some more in a while though.

Either everyone else was driving extremely slowly this morning or my car is running exceptionally well following its service :-) I'm going to treat it to some Tesco 99 on the way home (would have been V Power this morning but they were closed for refuelling - I'm now on fumes as work is 40 miles from home!).
