clio won,t start

Hi, My daughters little clio brokedown and has failed to start since, turns over the same with imobiliser on however I have been told it could be the sensor (crank) or the ecu anyone any ideas 1998 petrol

Are you getting a spark? Fuel coming through?

Try the crank sensor then, should be down near the gearbox housing, try GSF for a new one I wouldnt think they cost a fortune.

TDC sensor from Renault dealer is only circa £20 and most likely culprit. They do however have a habit of rotting the wiring to the ecu, its enclosed in conduit and holds water in the bends, fairly common on that age Clio.
