Fibbles, go bag yourself a copy of "Great Answers to Tough Interview Questions" There is a big section on there about the actual interview, the questions that you may be asked, and the sub-text to help formulate your answer.

First rule is, don't be cheesy. Cringe-making ego lines are so bad in interviews.
By all means sell yourself to them, but there's nothing worse than someone who does the whole 'you need me more than i need this job'.
Everyone asks 'why do you want this particular job'. Talk about the job, don't wax lyrical about how fantastic you think the company is.

I know everyone says "be yourself" (if you know what yourself really is).. Try that, but if you havn't been for many interviews its hard to be your "interview" self, this stuff comes with practice. Try remember to appeal to their needs and do some homework about the company you are interviewing for, It's pleasing to interview someone who has a genuine interest (or at least it appears so). Dress well and try your level best to drive yourself or be driven to the interview, leave ample time to settle your nerves down before you go in and make sure you smell nice (You laugh, I have interview people that smelled sweaty and it not pleasant), I see it like this, If you have self pride you will have pride in your work!

Definitely read up on the company - I've been in a couple of interviews where they looked a bit unimpressed when I said I hadn't looked at their website! I blame that on agencies giving me 1 day preparation time...
Also, don't try and be too yourself. I helped interview a graduate once who told us he'd got a 2:2 as he'd smoked too much gear at university. Didn't bother us too much but we decided he may have been lacking in judgement at critical times: "No your honour, I was not at the scene of the crime. I was busy trading crack for illegal arms"
I think its good to sound a bit ambitious too. We turned someone down once for asking for far too low a salary - just didn't trust him.

Always have a question for them at the end of the interview, they will probably ask you......

The one I liked, told me by a Recruitment Consultant last time I was in job market was, if the interview has gone well........
