I have all the new 'bits' coming tomorrow for my PC (), and it will be an AMD 64 CPU.Is it worth buying a 64 bit edition of XP for it, or would I be asking for trouble?
I am not sure if games are coded for it, or if my (newish) all in one pronter thingie would work, as I assume all drivers would be 32 bit, and not 64 bit coded.

Cheers

I use it for playing games and it's fine for that. I don't use the PC for ANYTHING else so drivers etc are not a huge worry for me. Games can be 32 or 64-bit, the OS contains a fancy compatibility layer. About the only game where there is any difference is Far Cry where there is a 64-bit patch. All this does is make some cosmetic changes.

I'm running it because I can. In all honesty I'd not say that there is a sound reason to go this way!

Stay with 32 bit. I tried 64 bit on my AMD X2 and it was marginally slower, mainly due to code taking up more space I think. I can see no reason to go for the 64 bit version.

Cheers guys, I'll stay with my trusty XP Pro (Retail!) CD then.
