I've polished and polished and polished, but this morning, I can still see the discolouration where the sh!t was. What the hell are those birds eating ?

From most angles the area looks perfect, but under strip lights at a certain angle I can clearly see it.

Any ideas ? I'm handing this car back at 1300hrs so not much time to do anything other than polish again.....

You probably need a stronger polish and/or some mechanised help like a PC polisher.

Oh, and when you do sort it make sure you wax regularily and you won't get the same problem again!

Thanks guys,

it wasn't visible when I handed the car back, and I'll take your advice and try and put a thick coat of wax onto the new one.

Thanks very much,

Apparently (3rd hand info originally from a bloke that worked at DuPont), you shouldn't leave bird crap on your paint for any longer than 10 hours if you want to avoid discolouration.

Just so you all know.

Bird poop contains acids, these eat in to modern waterbased paints.

Therefore get it off fast!

Seem to recall an RAC advert that said the same. If it's dry, wet a sponge, put it on it, go have a tea/coffee/beer and when you return it should wipe straight off. Works for me, we've got loads of pigeons and parakeets 'round here that like to leave their mark.

Yep, get a piece of kitchen towel, fold into a quarter, run it under tap and place over offending mark. Leave 15 mins and it will wipe off (gently)

Dried on stuff will need a Porter Cable to remove properly. Waxing is a good preventative measure.
