So hypothetically speaking...

If I was to go from a 2002 turbo -> 2004 GT3 with the bucket seats, what would I notice? On the motorways? On the smooth A roads and on the choppy b-roads?
Just wondering, like. The man from Cambridge might force me into a test drive this weekend.

A feeling of lightness and agility never previously witnessed in your Turbo
(And an engine with more linear responses/power delivery too )

Love the car to bits but if this debacle doesn't go my way, the 997tt plans are out of the window as are the 996GT3 ones.
Bit fickle aint'cha ?
Or did you do some deep breathing exercises over the weekend ?

How lacking in torque the gt3 is.Thats what you would notice...Just wondering, like. The man from Cambridge might force me into a test drive this weekend.

Well certainly I'll be shelving my "plans" if they decide to rip me off with the faulty clutch... I was just struck by the beauty of the thing what with its seats, yellow belts, polished roll cage, ceramic brakes and am quite interested in this legendary driving experience they're supposed to give. Have to be pretty good to improve on the turbo though (flame suit on)

Theres no point looking like Derek Bell when some geezer blasts past you in a turb..torque is what you need on the road...also now putting on flameproof suit

I like the cut of your jib

Surely you're not advocating racing on the public highway are you
If however, the comment was aimed at trackday use you'd best make that a quadruple layer flame suit !!

Ahhhhh, if all else fails to excite, add a large dollop of horsepower to the mix.
After all, there's nothing brute force and ignorance can't overcome

Exactly but it makes a perfect car FEEL quick.the turbo is so well sorted that it needs 500bhp to unsettle it!..if you want a great drive and no grunt get an Elise.

I can see KayC's point. There is something pleasant about the TT's torque. The AWD and weight is a bit of a turn off, but other than that its a lot of supercar for £55k-£60k. I bought my GT3 for other reasons - they do have a 'mystique' about them and they are Porsche's 'track car'. I have no doubt that a turbo is more comfortable, easier to drive, safer to drive fast etc etc, but those things don't make up for the lack of GT3 badge on the back....

Ahhhhh you're talking about everyday cars there John, I'm talking about something to open the garage doors to at 5 am on a Sunday morning and think "It's showtime !"
I get the same feeling with my MK1. Great occasion, even just popping down to Sainsburys!!
Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff

And mines only a Mk1 !
