Help ! Main beam wiring

Hi all - need a bit of advice please.

I bought the twin light conversion pods off ebay - all fitted and look great. But I need a little advice regardin ghte wiring of the lights. There are four terminals for the lights including earths, but I need to send another feed to the second main beam lights and rather than just piggy back of the original supply causing an overload of current would a relay and new supply be the correct route or are there any teccys out there who can suggest a better way. A new relay sounds to be the best idea to me... Been there and done it, although only using the standard headlamps.

If you're going to the trouble of putting one new wire in, then you may as well replace the existing headlamp wiring too. (I found mine to be woefully inadiquate) I used some 30A cable per light (4 lives in total - a bit of overkill, but I do have a set of 100W bulbs to fit in the high beam) and 2 5-pin relays (one for mains, one for high beam) I also ran a decent sized earth the shortest distance I could to the chassis - the standard earth point on the chassis is a known weakness because it is in the firing line for all the mud from the road...

I left the relays dangling behind the battery and the +12 feed straight from the battery for the better part of a year until I fitted a totally new fuseboard to tidy the electronics up after the aftermarket ECU was fitted.

Thanks for that dnb - seems that the idea of the relays is the way to go.
