Booked in end of the month to get the smoking issue looked at, and assuming there is either no fault, or its not a fault i need to pay lots to fix, will be getting the PSE done

Anyone on the forum got it, and is there anything i need to be aware of? It's switch operated, but should it only be turned on/off whislt at idle?

Also, there are no exterior changes are there? Currently have the oval exhaust tips - what are peoples views of these. I really like the 4 tubes of the turbo, but does having the faux 4 tubes on a carrera look odd to people?

What do you have on yours then?

Though it was quads or ovals only?

As an aside , do you reckon just putting on tips alone can benefit the sound??

I think you would get a lot more satisfaction from spending that 550 euros on a chunnel crossing, driving to the nurburgring, a few laps of the Nordschleife, a night at the tiergarten, a beer or two with Sabine and then drive home! That's memories, that is!!

As its going in to work out why it smokes, do you think that will cut out some of the labour time for the PSE?

i.e. if they have to take the existing exhaust apart to find out why its smoking, can they not put it back together as a PSE?

Or is that assuming they are not money grabbing bastards?

Vesuvius, if I do go ahead with the different exhaust tips, consider yourself first in the line for the ovals!

Andy - I have a factory fit PSE on mine. The system defaults to on (ie louder) when the ignition is turned on, and you have to override it for the quiet setting. IMHO, I believe there are better systems available. I tried a car with the Fabspeed system, and it sounded better, not as loud, but less of a 'fabricated' sound, with none of the standard tinnyness of the PSE. With regard to the ends, I have just fitted the Porsche 'quad' pipes to mine, as mine had the standard small ends. I think the larger ovals look good too. Mines a Cab, so a bit of a tarts car, therefore the 'quads' seem to go well......

The main reason for going with the PSE is POrsche saying they wont warrant anything connected to the exhaust unless they fit it. Without wanting to turn this into another warranty thread, exactly what would not be warranted if i went for another providers exhaust?

I guess it would only be something directly attributable to the exhaust system...... Not sure how they could wriggle out of liability on engine component failure for example..... as you're not replacing the complete system, ie; headers and cats will remain the same. Best idea is to call an OPC to find out, or call the warranty company direct - they should have contact details in the warranty booklet.
