Hi there all!

Right.... I've gotta problem.

Took my chim to the garage today for a new clutch fitting. I've been informed that the pivot ball at the base of the release arm is broken and TVR no longer make or can supply this part.

Any info is greatly welcomed and is much appreciated as the sun is out and I want my car back NOW!

It is a 94 Chimaera with a Borg Warner gearbox.

Cheers!

Thanks Kenny...

Had a call this morning and the garage think they have found one at a salvage yard... I will know definitley tomorrow... in the meantime I feel happy that you have kindly supplied another possible lead - I really appreciate that.

I am dreading hearing what the total cost is gonna be when I get my car back!

This forum is sooo good, it's like one big happy TVR family!, I'm absolutely astounded that you can find out anything on here, I even found out the other night how to find the exact colour of the paint work! - which I so need as I am getting chips galore on the bonnet which seem to be developing larger laquer bubbles around them - I wince everytime I look at them! I am currently liasing with 'Chips Away' to get a quote.

Anyway I will keep you updated on the clutch situation. I can't wait to get the car back.

Thanks again,

Lena

I'll bet the charge isn't going to be too bad as it's from a salvage yard (though labour costs take their £ toll of course).

When I got my local indie to fit a new clutch last summer, they pointed out that the bearings in the gear box were nearly shot. and that it would be a false economy to refit it.
I, like most drivers, run the car on a budget and really didn't need this exta outlay but, I managed to source a T Borg unit from a 10k miler written off in the west country (and got it delivered directly to the garage) saving me around £500. Car is like new now

You mention stone chips Lena. Nearly all GRP bodied (fast) cars have them but it seems to me that motorway and A road driving cause most of them. I tend to take alternate routes and they've not increased.

Good luck tomorrow- hopefully you'll have the car back in a few days. Oh, and use the search facility on here for anything you need to know about the car.
